The launch of the 2022 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Electric Crossover

Differences in exterior

Cross Turismo boasts a fantastic wagon roofline and a hatchback rear. It comes with an all exclusive crossover vibe while simultaneously maintaining Taycan’s outstanding value. With an added utility and better ground clearance, this vehicle is worth all your money. 

Apart from the rear hatch and roofline, most of the design differences can be seen as the Turismo’s elevated ride height and body cladding. Heavier side skirts, black fender extensions (they are gloss black on the Turbo S), silver skid plate details, and extra black cladding pieces on the bumpers are visible in the Cross Turismo. 

Although the standard ride height is 0.8 inches higher as compared to the Taycan sedan, the off-road design package further increases the ride height by an additional 0.39 inches. This is the measurement by which the Gravel drive mode usually elevates the vehicle and also adds a few extra black cladding details on the bumpers and skirts. 

As an option, roof rails and a rear-mounted bike carrier are provided. The bike carrier fits between the two carbon fiber e-bikes. 

Color and wheel options

Apart from being available in many trim levels and shades which the regular Taycan boasts, adding the subtle Frozenberry pink paint and matching purple cabin, 4 distinct wheel styles are also given in the Cross Turismo. 

Out of these four-wheel designs, 3 of them are 20 inches whereas the last one is 21 inches. According to Porsche Taycan, the 8-car lineup can be obtained in a total of 21,000 various combinations. 

Differences in interior

When it comes to the interior, the entire cabin appearance, dashboard and center console of Cross Turismo is very similar to the sedan. However, a big contrast is visible when one gets in the rear seat. 

The occupants in the front possess half an inch extra headroom as opposed to the sedan whereas the back seat passengers boast 3.6 inches additional headroom in the Cross Turismo. 

Although the back seat of Taycan was previously comfy too, these additional inches make it even roomier. In the non-Turbo models, the boot area is 15 cubic feet which are 0.7 cubic feet bigger than the sedan. On the other side, the Turbo models give 14.3 cubic feet which are 1.4 cubic feet greater than Turbo sedans. 

Even though these differences won’t seem like a lot, these measurements are taken with the parcel shelf which means that Cross Turismo has more space available. Moreover, the back seats can be folded for 42.8 cubic feet maximum. All Cross Turismo comes with 2.9 cubic feet of frunk. 

Trim options and Details

The trim levels of Cross Turismo are 4, 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S from which the standard 4 trim is unique among the lineup. The base Taycan sedan is powered by a single electric motor and is a rear-wheel drive. 

However, the entry-level Cross Turismo comes with 2 electric motors and is an all-wheel drive. It is basically a detuned version of the dual-motor 4S. Although the base and 4S trim levels of the sedan come with either a big 93.4 kWh pack or a 79.2 kWh battery pack, the former costs almost $6,000. Still, it is noteworthy that the Cross Turismo, irrespective of the trim, has the 93.4 kWh pack as standard. 

Speed

As for the speed, the top Turbo S version of the Cross Turismo covers 0-60 distance in only 2.7 seconds which is 0.1 slower than the Turbo S sedan. Similarly, the Turbo and 4S models are also 0.1 slower than the sedan versions. 

But due to the AWD system, Taycan 4 Cross Turismo takes only 4.8 seconds which is 0.3 seconds faster than the base sedan. Although Porsche hasn’t given out EPA ratings or range estimates, they’ll definitely be lower since Turismo is heavier and less aerodynamic.
